Q: You’re an author who takes book promotion seriously and you have really invested in yourself. What would you not do again in terms of types of promotion?

A: As I wrote earlier, there are a lot of con artists out there, just waiting to fleece unsuspecting authors of their promotion budgets. I wish I could name names, but that would be dangerous territory, legally. Finding a good publicist is tricky, but that’s the key. Unfortunately, you might burn up some money in the process, so try to verify recommendations before you sign a contract.
